We love finding independent and unique lines to carry in neighborhood and it’s even better when those lines happen to be based in Venice.

windstorm tee & joshua tree tee
We have carried Suburban Riot for quite some time now, but we just got a new shipment of tees and were reminded of just how awesome they are. I guess “shipment” is the wrong word since the co-founder and designer, Nate, actually hand delivered the box to us from their office just down the street. Suburban Riot’s designs are inspired by the physical environment and the iconic symbols of Southern California. We are also excited to start carrying woman’s tees from Suburban Riot! {see below}

black hole tee
Suburban Riot is committed to sourcing sustainable materials, from organic cotton, to recycled polymer based materials – which means that all their shirts are super-soft and comfortable. They also donate 1% of all sales directly to protecting the natural environment through the organization 1% for the Planet.

thanks to everyone who stopped by Neighborhood for our first friday event on june 5th!

as always, it was a lively night at Neighborhood & Urbanic. we were blown away by our friend’s & neighbor’s creativity in this month’s project social – bunting flags.

we supplied our guests with paper, scissors, glue, ribbon, sparkles, stamps (and drinks) and the results were even better than we could have imagined.

mark your calendars now for the next first friday on abbot kinney – july 3rd!

It never fails. When someone walks into Neighborhood and approaches our kid’s section for the first time, they say one of 3 things:
1. Cuuuuuute!
2. Awwwwww!
3. Do you have this in my size?

My usual response is, “I know.” Unless they ask question 3, in which case I say, “no, I’m sorry.”And things have only gotten cuter since our Spring styles arrived. One of our favorite line of onesies & tees, Jasper ♥ Wren is back in stock with new styles and some classics.

Our newest addition, Misha Lulu, just sent us a batch of the Multi Dress. Each dress is hand crafted and completely unique. Misha Lulu also donates the profits from the Multi Dress to the orphanage Hogar del Nino in the designer’s hometown of Ahuachapan, El Salvador.

We are just blocks from the beach in Venice, so sunglasses are a necessity year round. Problem is, we could never find sunglasses we loved enough to have them in Neighborhood.

The Noval in black with polarized lenses
After much searching we found Raen Optics. Based in Encinitas, Raen is an independent optics brand with an eye {pun intended} for truly timeless & authentic design. Right now we have The Noval & The Vida. We will be getting a few more styles in the coming months, including The Nora {shown below}.

The Vida in brown {also available in black}

Spring is officially here, but it’s not the longer days or the warming weather that signals this change for me. It’s the dresses. Neighborhood’s newest line, Heartloom has the perfect spring dresses in lovely indigo chambray & piqued cotton.

We loved the Tompkins dress {pictured below} so much, we got it in navy & white.

Heartloom, based out of New York, is so reminisent of East Coast style, it made Philly-born Audrey boast about her geographical roots.

There have been many rumors and theories about who is going to take the space across the street from us on the corner of Abbot Kinney & Venice. Starbucks, Intelligentsia & Fred 66, to name just a few. More than anything we wanted a little cafe with yummy sandwiches and salads. Just this week, a “coming soon” sign was posted in the window…

I haven’t eaten here yet (they have locations in downtown & West Hollywood) but their menu looks amazing. Plus, they have four varieties of fresh squeezed lemonade everyday in unique flavors like rosemary & peach ginger.
We’ve already made jokes about starting a Neighborhood/Urbanic tab since we will be eating there everyday.
